Bold Moves for Career & Life Pivots

Hey Sis

I see you…

You are multitasking like a pro. Managing work life, home life, maybe that mum life too. But there is a little something. A little niggle or itch, this feeling you can’t quite put your finger on.

Maybe it’s a feeling of disconnect. Maybe it’s a longing for more. Maybe you're feeling stuck.

Sis, do not panic. This is a sign that you want to make yourself available for something more.

Boldness isn’t about reckless moves - but intentional empowered steps

I remember when I experienced this feeling. I was happy to be in a professional career with all its challenges and rewards but after a while I felt like I was floating along aimlessly. This was itch number one and itch number one led to baby number one. And then for a while I was content, readjusting to this new life of working mum. Feeling a range of emotions from excitement to fear about coming back to the work environment, but I did it. Until itch number two came a long and once again there was a baby.

Mind you I am now in my late thirties, a working mother about to have another baby. My mindset was different. My ambitions were different. There was enough going on to quiet the itch and now I was content again.

Until it came back - now if you were expecting another baby with this next itch, you’ll be mistaken but the feeling of wanting more was very present. My life was different now. I went from a professional working mum to a full time mum and it was…different. Good different and bad different. And I wanted the feeling of limbo to be gone with.

So Sis, I get it.

Change can be scary but you have to weigh up the feeling of emptiness with the feeling of fear and decide which one you’d rather live with.

Boldness isn’t about reckless change — it’s about intentional, empowered steps toward the life you actually want so let’s do something about it.

Curiosity fuel clarity

Even if you don’t have the full picture, that is okay. Get curious before you get clear. Clarity will come as you take actions. Experiment. Put feelers out. Test the waters. Think about what it is you would do if you had all the time in the world, all the money in the world and fear was nowhere to be found. Then get imaginative about how you would get there.

Drown out the noise

Everyone will have an opinion. Pick and choose who you will get advice from but ultimately go with what resonates with you. Their opinions will always be there no matter what decision you make, so make moves you know you are willing to commit too.Be okay with the trial and error, experimenting, rejection, failure, success and growth that comes with the territory. You might have to fight with your comfort zone a little bit - but that’s when you know you are moving boldly.

Let go of ‘perfect’ beginnings.

Everyone started at zero. The people you aspire to, they were once beginners too. No one is a master straight out the bat. There is growing and learning to any new opportunity. It’s about momentum not mastery. And the confidence will come as you take action and imperfect and messy as it is. Don’t worry about perfect beginnings, be bold with authentic ones.

So Sis, whether you have a desire for a new career, direction in life or business venture, make a plan that is bold. Make a plan that aligns with your energy, your values, your beliefs. Remember, the life you want to create is dependent on your willingness to be curious and uncomfortable. Try it for yourself, or deny yourself of it - the choice is in your hands.
