Title: Affirmations Aren’t Just Woo – They’re Rehearsals for Who You’re Becoming
Hey sis,
I see you.
You have encouragement for your friend that feels discouraged, your partner that needs motivation, the children in your life that didn't get the result they wanted, even for that random author of a social media post that touched your heart.
But for you?
"I’m not confident enough.”
“I don’t have time.”
“I’ll do it when I’m ready.”
Or whatever version of self-doubting verbiage we decide to funnel into our psyche.
We say these things without realising we’re rehearsing for a small version of ourselves — over and over again.
What you say to yourself matters
But what if your self-talk could start moving your bolder towards your goals instead?
That’s the power of affirmations — not as cheesy mantras, but as tiny truth-tellers that remind you of your intention, power, and purpose.

Affirmations Aren't Just Woo
As a mother I knew the importance of praise and was intentional about making sure my children knew they were loved, capable, and beautiful children of God.
This was especially important for my firstborn daughter who of course like so many girls, gravitated towards the pretty, pink 'girly' things. She went through a Disney Frozen phase and found herself looking at children on Youtube that didn't look anything like her.
I had to remind her, when she said she wanted 'peach skin' and long flowing hair, that the version of her that she is, is perfectly beautiful enough for this world - any more beautful and there'd be war.
As she got older, she started appreciating her abundance of melanin and kinky coils, which was very important especially after having an incident at school that left her rather upset.
Nothing can prepare a mother for when you have to console your child after another child says racial remarks about your appearance.
But my girl, though hurt, did not loathe her God-given awesomeness but if anything loved on her self more. Thanks to lots of affirmations from those who love her she can see her beauty for herself; maybe a bit too much as she is constantly in front of the mirror. I may have created a vain monster - welp!
This is just an example of how powerful positive affirmations can be.
Now it's about turning that towards ourselves when it comes to our goals; personal and professional.
Here’s the shift:
Stop affirming what’s wrong.
Start affirming what’s possible.
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue" - Proverbs 18:21
What are you speaking into your life and over yourself today?
Are you bringing life to your dreams with the power if your words?
If not, there's now better time to start than now.
You’re not too late.
You’re right on time.
